ABOUT

My nature photography has won many distinguished awards, but my real reward lies in the thrill of being eye to eye with a wild animal or soaking in stunning landscapes and delicate flowers. While many photographers find delight in capturing prize-winning images, the primary joy for me is appreciating the beauty and diversity of the natural world. Of course, obtaining a fabulous shot is icing on the cake.

I go on many trips and outings to obtain photographic captures that have possibilities to become fabulous works of art. Once I return home, my process involves carefully selecting my best photos of the day to consider editing them in Lightroom and Photoshop. I generally shoot at 30 frames/second. That means that I obtain a huge number of shots that look virtually identical each time I press the shutter. Then ensues the time-consuming task of picking the absolute best.

After carefully considering each photo, frequently zoomed in to 200-400%, I select the few that I will edit. My selection process involves looking for technical perfection and images that will best convey emotions to the viewer. I then apply my technical expertise to editing these few photos. Since I submit a lot of my work to major photographic competitions, I strive to make subtle changes that enliven the subject and best reflect what I saw and felt as I took the shot. The rest is up to folks who view my work.
